While we love shopping deals for ourselves, which is really how Frugal and Thriving started, we also love finding steals for others – whether we need a good gift or we want to send a sweet surprise! An annual tradition we have here at F&T is a holiday/end-of-year charity donation. We shop all year and collect items for different charities we want to contribute to and then at the end of the year, we round it all up and send it in! See our 2023 donation recap below.

This year, we donated over $2300 worth of gifts – 117 items total!! However, being Frugal and Thriving, we actually only paid around $1500 for everything, because of all the sales and deals we posted in our Facebook group and took full advantage of! The charities donated to included Sea the Future, Caring for Kids, and Toys for Tots.

Some of the donations included items like: Lite-Brite, Playfoam, Gabby’s Dollhouse rooms, Moana singing doll, footballs, LEGO creator spaceship, Magic Mixies, magnetic building tiles, National Geographic Dino Fossil Dig kit, Mickey and the Beanstalk board games, Spot It! game, and so, SO much more!!

This was what we donated in 2022 – you can see that it was significantly less than what we accumulated this year. Kristy shopped for Christmas gifts for kids in need from various charity groups including Cape May County Caring for Kids and the New Jersey Department of Children and Families. She was also able to donate $200 worth of jackets and little kids’ clothes to Holy Redeemer Healthy Families Program in Cape May Court House. How awesome is it that we are fortunate enough to be able to grow our donation closet from year to year?? This is so heartwarming!

Look at that difference! We’re looking forward to collecting even more donation items for next year!

And if you want to get in on the giving back fun, check out our Poshmark, where we list all of our favorite fashion, home decor, and accessories that no longer serve us – all of the proceeds get donated to charity at the end of the year! If you have questions, or want to find out more ways you can donate, email admin@frugalnthriving.com

We’re all about deals and steals at Frugal and Thriving, and Poshmark is the perfect way to get designer or name-brand goods for just a fraction of the cost. Kristy started a Poshmark closet to share some of her favorite products with the F&T community for less than the normal purchase price! The best part – she’s sharing her wardrobe with you while giving back. All proceeds from her closet will be donated to a different charity every year! See what it’s all about below.

If you’re unfamiliar with Poshmark, it’s a site where you can sell brand new or lightly used goods for a discounted price! Sellers list their items with info about the products including sizing and fit (Kristy is 5’3” – 120lbs for reference) and accompanying photos, along with a suggested buying price! Pricing is always negotiable. Kristy started her closet in order to declutter while giving back – all proceeds will be donated to a charity in need at the end of the year. Every December we will pick a new charity to donate to! Keep reading to see some of the items listed on Kristy’s Poshmark closet and the donations from this year!

This chic cropped sweater is the perfect cold weather wardrobe staple! Wear it with anything – whether you choose jeans, leggings, boots, or wedge sneakers, this is look you can rock all season long. It even has a little pocket for some extra style!

This fun dotted ruffle dress makes an adorable outfit on its own with sandals, or style it with a cardigan or jean jacket and booties for a transitional outfit between seasons!

These rust-colored velvet shoes are a hot addition to any outfit! They are great for dressing up a jeans and blazer look for work or pairing with a fun dress for date night or an event.

This Vera Bradley sling bag is a favorite!! It’s not only super cute, it’s also really convenient for traveling and going on trips with kids. When your hands are occupied with a thousand other things, worrying about carrying a bag should be the last thing on your mind! This bag has tons of pockets and compartments so you can carry everything you need with ease.

And these are just a few examples of what’s available in Kristy’s Poshmark closet. Shop hundreds of items including everything from women’s fashion and kids’ apparel to home decor and maternity!!

The goal for 2023 is to at least double this donation amount! Every little bit counts and we are so thankful for your continued support in the Frugal and Thriving community!!
