Soups are an easy, delicious, and (usually) healthy meal option, and they can really hit the spot on a cold winter day! We’ve rounded up some of our favorite soup recipes to share with you so next time you’re stumped about what to make for dinner, you can whip one of these up and make the whole family happy! See our soup recipes below.
Stracciatella Soup
A heartwarming, delicious and nutritious soup. Made in the beloved Always Pan!!
INGREDIENTS:
- 4 cups chicken or vegetable stock
- 4 eggs (whipped)
- Spinach
- Grated Parmesan cheese
- Shaved Parmesan cheese and crushed red pepper flakes to garnish
DIRECTIONS:
- Simmer chicken (or vegetable) stock on medium heat and slowly add whipped eggs.
- Let cook for about two minutes and then add uncooked spinach. Continue to cook until wilted. Add grated Parmesan cheese.
- Garnish with shaved Parmesan cheese and crushed red pepper flakes.
Creamy Chicken Rice Soup
A creamy, filling soup perfect for family dinner on a chilly night!
INGREDIENTS:
- 2 celery chopped
- 2 carrots peeled and chopped
- 1/2 onion
- Olive oil
- Chopped garlic (about three cloves)
- 3 TBS flour
- 4 cups chicken broth
- 1 cup uncooked rice
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 pound uncooked chicken cut into bite size pieces
DIRECTIONS:
- Chop all veggies
- With 1 TBS oil, sauté celery, onion and carrots in soup pot for 5 minutes
- Add garlic and cook for about 30 seconds
- Add in flour and cook for about a minute (coating veggies)
- Slowly add in chicken broth (scraping the bottom of the pot)
- Add salt and pepper to taste
- Stir in rice and heavy whipping cream
- Bring to a boil and then reduce heat to a simmer
- Cover the pot with lid to cook rice for about ten minutes, stirring occasionally
- Add in chicken and cook for another 10-12 minutes (while stirring occasionally so rice doesn’t stick)
- Serve hot with your favorite bread or crackers
*Krista’s pro tip: I personally cook the rice separate and instead of adding when you add the cream, let the soup broth cook for a bit then add the chicken and let cook. If you’re planning on saving leftovers, it’s best to keep rice separate since it soaks up the broth!

We’re back with another room redo from Kristy! This time she upgraded her out-of-date dining room with a fresh coat of paint and some new furniture and accessories – and it changed the whole vibe. From dark and drab to bright and beautiful, her dining room transformation is one for the books! Take a look at the redo below.
This is the dining room before – not bad, but it definitely needed a little love! A fresh coat of paint and some new, carefully curated furniture and accessories would make this a brand-new space. I couldn’t wait to get rid of the beat-up table and the decades-old curtains.
Step one: pick the paint color! This gorgeous green is “Eden” from Hearth and Hand with Magnolia.
Here you can see the room mid-transformation. The new green paint color is sleek and contemporary, and blends seamlessly with the other upgrades I’ve made in my home!
A new dining table set and light fixture took the old, dark feel of the room and turned it into a fresh, modern farmhouse vibe! The light wood table and neutral chairs are classy and sophisticated, and the open-frame pendant light is eye-catching without being overwhelming.
Another small change that made a huge difference was replacing the old valances with these gorgeous sheer curtains and new curtain rods! They make the room look soft and bright, allowing plenty of natural light in while still feeling cozy and warm. See how I made that beautiful floral arrangement here.
And the completed look!! This new rug helps to open up the space and add a little dimension. It also helps the room feel finished – it ties together all the pieces. You can grab the faux marble-topped side table here, and check out the dining table decor here.

Kristy has been slowly renovating and redoing rooms in her home over the past year or so (check out her bathroom, living room, kitchen, and pantry redos) and next on her list was her detached garage! She had a vision for turning the space into a game room where she could hang out and relax with her husband, host family on holidays, and have a place for her kids to enjoy with friends as they get older! See how she transformed her unfinished detached garage into a cozy hangout spot below.
The unfinished detached garage was previously being used as a storage/workout space, without any real purpose or design. It was time to make use of all of this room and get it organized!
One of the top priorities was adding a small half bath to the space. I knew that we wanted this to be a hangout spot for friends and family, and being able to have a bathroom onsite would be a huge plus!
Another game room essential – organized storage space!! I have a lot of different holiday and seasonal decor that would typically sit in my garage, creating more chaos. I knew I wanted a dedicated shelving area to keep everything I don’t use year-round safe and out of the way.
Getting all of the framing done and sheetrock up, with the bathroom and storage closet sectioned out, really made the whole space start to come together!
This is the almost-finished storage closet! I have so much space now to store all of my decor and outdoor essentials. The high shelving makes it easy to store and organize bins and larger items!
And the finished half bath! I went with a navy blue and gold decor theme to keep it clean and classy. The vanity has nice storage space underneath, and the large bathroom mirror perfectly complements the sleek gold faucet, towel ring, and toilet paper holder (not pictured). Also not pictured is the new toilet, but I went with a basic white high-efficiency model.
I wanted a rug that would add some style but would also hide dirt tracked in from outside and could handle a little wear and tear. This indoor/outdoor rug was just what I was looking for, and also helped carry the navy theme of the bathroom out into the main space. We also hung a TV and added a heater for those cold winter days when we still want to enjoy the space without freezing!
I love the shiplap accent wall between the two closet doors. It really helps to bring dimension to the space and makes it feel like a real extension of our home! I couldn’t be any happier with how the game room turned out. I’m excited to add all of the furniture and start hanging out in here!
We had contractors do all of the work because this was a little bit too large of a project to tackle ourselves, and we wanted to ensure everything was done correctly! We went with Making Changes, LLC, a contracting company based in South Jersey, and I would recommend them time and time again. They got the work done timely and efficiently, and they were a pleasure to work with!!

There’s nothing I love more than organization. With my pantry needing all the help it could get, I was desperate to find a simple, manageable solution without going broke. And then I stumbled across this Easy Closets system. The name says it all…it was EASY to put together! Going from the before (bottom) to the after (top) was actually a seamless process and only took me two days to complete!!
This is my pantry before…yikes. I started the redo by measuring my space. Once I submitted my measurements, Easy Closets put together a plan for my pantry (request a free design plan here)! They send you a specially tailored layout that you can then choose to love, modify, or switch out for a completely different plan! You can do this as many times as you want until you find the perfect layout for your space and your needs. The representatives at Easy Closets made the planning part painless for me and helped transform my space with ease! You can also browse their design gallery here. They design pantries, closets, laundry room and garage storage, and more!
Step one: clear out the pantry and take out the old shelving units. This was the worst part – ugh those wire racks. Make sure to take all trim off if you have it. This will allow the new shelves to lay flat on the wall when you install them!
With all of the old shelving out, it was time to install my new Easy Closets system!!
The installation was super simple and it didn’t take me long at all! I couldn’t believe how much of a difference it made to have separate shelves and cubbies. I was actually excited to reorganize and put everything away in its new place!
Look at all of that organization!! It’s so much cleaner and less cluttered. A neat freak’s dream come true!
I can see everything in my pantry with ease and know with just a glance what I need to stock up on or what I have enough of. This may not sound like a huge deal but knowing exactly what I need helps cut down on multiple weekly trips to the grocery store! And anything that can save a little time and make life a little easier is a huge blessing.
Even my paper products and cleaning supplies are neat and organized now! The pullout drawers are great for storing things like aluminum foil, parchment paper, and Ziploc bags, or items I don’t use every day like baking supplies and party goods.
And just like that I have a brand new, beautiful pantry. I seriously love just looking at it, and the fact that it was so easy to transform makes it that much more enjoyable!! No matter how big or small your space is, Easy Closets has you covered!
